Seabury Age-In-Place® Gives Ms. J Hope for the City She Calls Home

Ms. J has lived in her house for over 50 years. She fell in love with DC after her family moved here when she was in fifth grade. She’s become very connected to the area, and shares one of her favorite hobbies, sewing, with her neighbors by making pillows for them. Ms. J also has two children who live nearby. Her son is an elementary school teacher and her daughter is a doctor.

Ms. J loves spending time with her children, but she does not want them to be burdened with her care. Seabury Age-In-Place® allows her to stay in her beloved home, close to her children, while maintaining her independence. Ms. J can no longer maintain her home on her own, so she feels liberated by the support of Age-In-Place®. She says that meeting young volunteers and seeing them clean her house and yard gives her hope for the next generation and the future of the city that she calls home. Below, Ms. J smiles with SeaburyAge-In-Place® volunteers from Annie's Ace Hardware.

You can make a difference in the life of a local older adult like Ms. J. Learn how you can volunteer with Seabury Age-In-Place®, email ageinplace@seaburyresources.org or call 202-625-9384 ext. 102.
