Seabury Spotlight | Carol L. Rogers, SCS Honoree

Seabury Celebration of Service is coming up! On May 4, 2022, we will honor older members of Episcopal and United Church of Christ congregations who have had an impact through service. Our first nominee is Carol L. Rogers. Carol's pastor at Cleveland Park Congregational Church, Rev. Ellen Jennings, shared a bit about why Carol was nominated.

Carol joined our congregation in 2013 and has been very involved ever since. From first coming via a Blessing of the Animals Services to serving as Moderator several years later, Carol has brought a passion for justice and compassion for others to our church. Her background in journalism and experience working for women’s rights, human rights, peace, the environment, and animal welfare has pushed our congregation to do more in each of these areas. She has also been a powerful voice for racial justice and voter rights, acting with leadership and by example. Over the years, she has marched and rallied for many causes with other congregation members in our church t-shirts. She also knows how to have fun and was Vice Moderator the year we celebrated our 100th Anniversary and had a fabulous 1920s party, dressed in period clothing. She has a beautiful voice and has been part of our choir since she joined. And, as a multi-year member of our Pastor-Parish Relations Committee, Carol provided ongoing wisdom and support as part of that team. We are grateful, and she is much loved!

We are looking forward to nominating Carol and many others on May 4. If you are a leader in an Episcopal or UCC congregation in the DMV, please nominate an older adult before April 1 to be honored at Seabury Celebration of Service.
