Summer at Seabury Age-In-Place®

On May 5, 2018, you could find Seabury volunteers and employees in black shirts and jeans in the parking lot of Annie’s Ace Hardware (in Brookland and Petworth) informing customers about Age-In-Place’s® mission and asking for their support of local service projects. Seabury Age-In-Place® raised over $1,400 in in-kind donations at our 5th Annual Stuff the Shed donation drive. We received house cleaning supplies to clean our clients’ homes, yard tools to help us maintain our clients’ yards, and financial gifts to support the work of Age-In-Place®. Seabury Awarded Vital Worship Grant

The Calvin Institute of Christian Worship announced that it will fund 44 Vital Worship Grants projects for 2018-2019 as part of its Vital Worship Grants Program. This year’s recipients include 27 congregations, one high school, six colleges and universities, one seminary, and nine other groups, including two community organizations, three denominational organizations, a retreat center, and a retirement community. They also represent 17 different Christian denominations, 25 states and two Canadian provinces. Notable this year are a number of collaborative projects between two or more congregations. Postcards to homebound parishioners, telephone prayer services, spiritual resources for aging: these are just a few of the ways that parishes and Episcopal-associated non-profits in the Diocese of Washington are reaching out to local older adults. Recognition and relationships: A common concern as we age is maintaining strong social connections.
