Volunteer Opportunities

For Individuals:

Adopt-a-Senior - matches volunteers with frail, lonely older adults who benefit from long term relationships.  Tawana Moore Tmoore@seaburyresources.org is the contact person at Christian Communities Group Homes.  This program serves residents of DC who are over the age of 60.

Parish Contact - serve as a liason between your Episcopal or United Church of Christ congregation and Seabury Congregational Resources to provide resources and information that serve older adults (mid-life, retirees and their children and/or their care-givers).  Contact Annie Shaw at ashaw@seaburyresources.org or your Rector if you are interested in this role.

Age-In-Place® offers individuals and groups the opportunity to work on a project that ensures that an older adult can stay more safely in his/her own home. Tawana Moore Tmoore@seaburyresources.org is the contact person at Christian Communities Group Homes.  This program serves residents of DC who are over the age of 60.

Volunteer Recreation Aide at Seabury Ward 5 Lead Agency Services to provide activities such as: arts crafts, book club, men's club, and go out on recreational trips at senior nutrition sites. The sites are open weekdays and volunteers are needed from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. For more information call or email vgrayton@seaburyresources.org the Outreach Coordinator at (202) 529-8701.

Data Entry and Filing at Friendship Terrace Retirement Community.  The volunteer must be experienced in both data entry and filing.  High school students are welcome.  Contact Derek Johnson, Service Coordinator at 202-244-7400 or   DJohnson@seaburyresources.org.

Volunteer Activities Aide at Springvale Terrace Retirement Community.  Must enjoy engaging with older adult residents in scheduled activities.  Volunteer Activities Aides are especially needed July and August to assist with, lead and plan activities. Volunteer Kitchen Activities Aide at Springvale Terrace.  Assist staff with light kitchen duties.  Contact Derek Johnson, Service Coordinator DJohnson@seaburyresources.org or call (301) 587-0190. 

Volunteer Maintenance Aide at Springvale Terrace.  Assist maintenance staff within the facility.  Must be willing to get “hands on” experience and “get hands dirty”.  Contact Derek Johnson, Service Coordinator DJohnson@seaburyresources.org or call (301) 587-0190.
